What sustainability means to us

Sustainability is a term that has been around for a while, but just recently it has been linked to dentistry. Environmental sustainability according to the UN Environmental Programme 

‘is about making life choices that ensure an equal, if not better, way of life for future generations’.

At Deasy Dental we endeavour to utilise technology and green procedures to promote environmental sustainability and pollution prevention.

Here are some of the efforts we are making:

  • We are mindful to reduce, reuse and recycle whenever possible

  • Our practice is located right next to public transport.

  • We use environmentally friendly digital x-rays and intraoral scanners.

  • We use electronic patient record systems, reducing the need for paper and plastic.

  • We avoid using single-use plastic items such as plastic cups and paper bibs, and replace them with more sustainable biodegradable choices.

  • We use double-sided photocopying and shredded paper for packing material.

  • Our TV screens are LCD instead of CRT.

  • Our HP Ecotank printers are made from 45% recycled plastic.

  • We avoid using aerosols and use environmentally friendly disinfectants. 

  • We use recycled stationary, recycled toilet roll and recycled paper bags.

  • We maximise natural light and use ATC eco storage heaters.

  • Our scrubs are organic. Each set is made using 10 recycled plastic bottles.

  • We say no to Junk mail.

  • We do not use amalgam and have amalgam separators installed

  • Our appliances are energy efficient

  • Our modern purpose build practice has optimally insulated doors, windows and roof .
